Tulungagung Police Arrest 6 Perpetrators Of Attacking With Silat College Attributes, 7 Fugitives
TULUNGAGUNG - Tulungagung Resort Police (Polres) officers, East Java, arrested six teenagers suspected of being members of a silat college who were involved in beatings and provocations.
"We identified 13 perpetrators of beatings and provocations. Six of them have been arrested, seven others are still at large," said Tulungagung Police Chief AKBP Handono Subiakto as reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 22.
They are suspected of being the perpetrators of the beating using the attributes of one of the silat schools.
The main provocateur as well as the mastermind of the beating, he said, was also caught by the police.
The police noted that since the beginning of 2022 there have been two incidents of beatings by members of the silat college.
The first incident was on March 3 in front of SMKN 1 Tulungagung, Beji Village, Boyolangu District, while the second incident was in Gamping Village, Campurdarat District, on March 18, 2022.
According to the Police Chief, the criminal act of beating a member of a silat college usually begins with alcohol.
When someone passes by using the attributes of other silat schools, according to the Police Chief, the perpetrators will curse them so as to provoke emotions.
The police chief said that the use of attributes should only be used during practice, while outside of training it is not allowed to wear attributes with the identity of a particular silat college.
