99 Percent Of Indonesian Films Pass LSF Censorship In 2021
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Film Censorship Institute (LSF) stated that 99 percent of local films released in 2021 passed censorship. This fact is one part of the LSF 2021 annual performance report.
The ongoing pandemic does not, in fact, affect the development of Indonesian cinema. A total of 40,640 film titles were received by LSF during 2021 and from there only two films were not accepted.
“We are grateful that productivity and creativity have not decreased because of the pandemic that worries us all. The number of film censors continues to increase, although not as much as targeted," said LSF chairman Rommy Fibri Hardiyanto on Tuesday, March 22.
The LSF targets a minimum censorship of 40 thousand titles per year. Sensory is also still categorized by age.
"The achievement of the number of films and film advertisements that are censored is a minimum of 40 thousand titles per year, with a percentage of the number of films that pass by 85 percent," he said.
13-year-old youth films lead with 25,108 titles or 61.78 percent, then 17-year-olds with 10,133 titles or 24.93 percent, followed by All Ages (SU) with 5,082 or 12.51 percent.
Furthermore, the LSF stated that education for filmmakers will continue to be carried out so that the films they make can pass censorship.
“In doing our work, we focus more on education and culture. So we invite these people, whoever owns the film, to obey the law. The finding does not mean that there is an intention to violate it," he continued.
“There are film producers or directors who claim that they have never read the Film Law. Because of such conditions, what we are doing is education and culture.” explained Rommy Fibri.
