Ahead Of The Decision On The Alleged Code Of Conduct Violation, The Reporting Party Hopes Firli Bahuri To Resign

JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will read a verdict on the alleged violation of the code of ethics committed by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri. Responding to this, reporting Firli who is the Coordinator of the Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) will follow the trial directly.

"Welcoming Pak Firli's trial today, the verdict, I will immediately watch the trial," Boyamin said when contacted, Thursday, September 24.

As a reporter, he believes that the KPK Supervisory Board will make the fairest decisions possible. Even though it fully surrenders to Tumpak Hatorangan, cs regarding the sanctions given to Firli. It's just that he hopes that the anti-corruption agency's supervisory board will grant his request by imposing a resignation sanction.

"That at the time I became a KPK commissioner, I submitted a request to the Supervisory Board in the form of sanctions for Mr. Firli to be shifted from being a KPK chairman to being a deputy chairman of the KPK," he said.

This request, Boyamin continued, was based on his view that Firli was unable to become the KPK chairman. "The protocol is too heavy and the psychological burden for that I ask to be shifted to be a representative. That means returning to a collective collegial leadership," he said.

"Because Pak Firli often, as I say, dominates as KPK chairman in front of other institutions or leaders. So to ground Mr. Firli's feet again, he becomes a leader again but becomes a vice chairman," he added.

Furthermore, he stated that his reporting to the KPK Supervisory Board was not because he had personal problems with Firli Bahuri or was based on negative sentiments. This reporting, said Boyamin, aims to keep the KPK from the public eye.

This is because, he considered, the image of the anti-graft institution has so far declined, especially in the past year since the KPK Law Number 19 of 2019 was passed and the change in leadership position.

"So, I am using the Supervisory Board route as an effort to restore the image of the KPK to remain on track in eradicating corruption," he said.

So he appreciated the attitude of the KPK Supervisory Board which then followed up on his report against Firli who allegedly violated the code of ethics by using a helicopter, when he was going home to his hometown for his personal activities.

"This means that the KPK Supervisory Board functions to maintain the spirit of the KPK. So that the motivation or intention to form the council is to maintain the spirit of the KPK to be at least realized and achieved," he said.

The reading of the decision regarding the alleged violation of the code of conduct by Firli Bahuri is planned to be read out on Thursday, September 24 or today at 09.00 WIB after being postponed.

This delay occurred because a member of the KPK Supervisory Board had to carry out a COVID-19 swab test after making close contact with a staff member who tested positive. So, the trial which was supposed to be held on Tuesday, September 15 then changed.
