Dozens Of Teens And Motorcycles Seized By Pekanbaru Police During Wild Racing
PEKANBARU - Dozens of teenagers along with 30 motorbikes were secured by the Traffic Unit (Satlantas) of the Pekanbaru Police, Riau Province when controlling illegal racing with the Bukit Raya Police and Marpoyan Damai Sub-sector Police, early Sunday.
This illegal racing control started from 00.00 WIB until 05.00 WIB which was carried out in two locations, namely Jalan Arifin Achmad and Jalan Soekarno Hatta.
The control started when police officers were on patrol getting information from the public that there was an illegal race on Jalan Arifin Ahmad and Jalan Soekarno-Hatta.
"We immediately went to the location and immediately carried out control. Vehicles and drivers were immediately secured," said Head of the Pekanbaru Police Traffic Unit Kompol Angga Wahyu as quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 20 night.
The riders and dozens of motorbikes were then secured and taken to the Bukit Raya Police Headquarters.
At the Bukit Raya Police Headquarters, the perpetrators, the majority of whom were young, were given education regarding the dangers and consequences of their illegal racing actions.
Kasatlantas Polresta Pekanbaru asked parents to pay more attention to their underage children using motorbikes so they don't get involved in illegal racing.
Angga continued that his party will also coordinate with the Pekanbaru District Court to discuss strict sanctions against vehicles that receive sanctions in the form of a proof of violation (ticket) at the time of controlling the illegal race.
"To provide a deterrent effect, we will coordinate with the courts related to vehicles indicated for illegal racing. Will they be given fines or the like," concluded Angga.
