JAKARTA - Commission I of the DPR RI has agreed to support the Regional Military Command (Kodam) IV/Diponegoro which plans to build a city and forest battle training site in the Meteseh and Mount Lawu areas, Central Java. The construction budget is IDR 700 billion.
Commission I of the DPR RI confirmed that it would bring this aspiration to Jakarta and discuss it in a working meeting with relevant partners for discussion.
"I think we will propose both urban and forest combat training grounds to be included in the budget discussion. Hearing this proposal, we have agreed to propose it, because later it will become the pride of the Indonesian nation and the army in this regard," said the Deputy Chair of the Commission. I DPR RI Abdul Kharis Almasyhari while leading the Special Working Visit Team for Commission I DPR RI visited Kodam IV/Diponegoro in Semarang, Central Java, Friday, March 18, as reported by the DPR's official website.

This is because Indonesia, with its vast territory, does not yet have a training ground like this. In fact, in the ASEAN region, which is smaller in size, such as Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, they already have a city-defense training ground.

On the same occasion, Pangdam IV/Diponegoro Maj. Gen. Rudianto said that his party really hopes that the development of urban and forest combat training areas can be encouraged by Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives. Because Indonesia does not yet have such a location, finally Kodam IV/Diponegoro usually exercises in villages or cities, which is actually not allowed.
"If we have a battle ground for cities and forests, God willing, we can train with friendly countries with our heads held high and our chests outstretched. If we can make this happen, my goals and tasks will be finished, because I will retire soon. That's so that later my younger siblings can practice there," said TNI Major General Rudianto.
