Pertamina And Gardu House Collaboration Presents Mandalika Art Tunnel Full Of Energy
LOMBOK - Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit continues to preen ahead of the grand event of the world racing series, the MotoGP Pertamina Grand Prix Of Indonesia. The North Tunnel and South Tunnel, which will be the link to the racing arena for MotoGP enthusiasts, now look artistic through the touch of the creative hands of the nation's children. This 1,935.1 square meter tunnel looks beautiful with the presence of colorful visual art.
Pertamina's collaboration with the largest graffiti community in Asia, namely Gardu House, which wants to provide a positive experience for automotive sports lovers from various parts of the world. Especially for those who will come to the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on March 18-20 2022 in person.
According to Pertamina's Vice President of Corporate Communication, Fajriyah Usman, Pertamina supports the creation of this art tunnel to provide energy for the people of NTB, and Indonesia in general, to bounce back after the pandemic. "The presence of the Art Tunnel is also expected to provide excitement for circuit visitors and as a form of support and collaboration with local artists from NTB and from other cities in Indonesia," explained Fajriyah.
The North Tunnel and South Tunnel creative processes have involved at least 50 visual artists from various cities in Indonesia. And worked on for 12 hours every day, approximately for 14 days, finally ready to be published. The North Tunnel, which serves as the audience's path in the VIP tribune, was designed by famous graffiti artists from Jakarta, Darbotz and Stereoflow. The collaboration is entitled The Harder The Battle, The Sweeter The Victory.
This concept describes the hard struggle of the racers who competed at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit. Even though all of them are competitive people, only a few of the best riders got on the podium and felt the sweetest victory.
“The cultivation is quite magnificent, because not only the right and left sides, but also the ceiling. It feels good to be able to provide dynamic visual forms. Hope it can provide a cheerful and fresh atmosphere when people pass through this northern tunnel." said one of the artists Adi Dharma.
Meanwhile, the South Tunnel, which has an area of 731.2 square meters and serves as a pathway for spectators, was initiated by a local hero from Mataram, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Paerstud. Together with a team of 20 visual artists from various regions in West Nusa Tenggara, Paerstud presented a concept entitled Energizing Mandalika For A Brighter Indonesia. For a brighter (better) Indonesia in the midst of the world community.
The main object of the visual art described by Paerstud and his friends is the Garuda Bird which is moving forward in a better direction. And supported by two objects of cultural entities of the people of Lombok, namely Terune (a male) who plays the Beleq drum and Dedare (a female) who presents a pot of pottery filled with clean water. As well as visualization of 6 Pertamina Sub Holdings as collaborators of the work, all of which are wrapped with lines and colors that mean positive energy.
“With the limitations of space and time, this mural masterpiece of Mandalika Art Tunnel was successfully done through collaborative work practices, which reminded me of the culture of gotong royong or besiru (Sasak language). Where in essence has been attached to our own personality, the Indonesian nation.” explained Altha Rivan, Founder of Paerstud.
Through the synergy of Pertamina, Gardu House, Darbotz, Stereoflow, and Paerstud, it is hoped that the enthusiasm of young people can emerge. Not only to witness the stunning attractions of world-class racers, but also to raise the value of pride in domestic graffiti and visual art for Indonesia's creative economy. So that various industrial sectors can rotate back and forth together.
“We are proud and touched that we were trusted and directly involved to provide this beautiful and cool visual. The Mandalika circuit is currently gaining international attention, and perhaps among the other circuits, only this Mandalika circuit has a touch of graffiti and murals from local artists. We hope that this can be used to share positive energy with the colorful visuals that we provide. And it is also a distinctive color for the Mandalika circuit,” said Dado, Founder of Gardu House.
