Decrease In The Number Of Transportation Passengers On Nataru Holidays

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation noted that there was a decrease in the number of land or road transport passengers during the 2019 Christmas and New Year 2020 periods, namely in the D-6 to D + 11 period as many as 762,348 passengers or 22.74 percent compared to 2018/2019.

Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Budi Setiyadi, explained that the number of road or land transportation passengers decreased from 3.4 million to 2.6 million people. Meanwhile, the number of ferry passengers increased from 2.1 million people in 2018/2019 to 2.5 million people in 2019/2020.

The number of train passengers increased by 4.40 percent from 5.5 million people in the 2018/2019 period to 5.7 million people in 2019/2020.

Then sea transportation increased by 13.58 percent from 981,752 people in 2018/2019 to 1.1 million people in 2019/2020, air transportation decreased by 6.51 percent from 5.4 million people in 2018/2019 to 5.1 million people in 2019/2020.

Budi said that the drop in the number of public transport passengers, especially land transportation, was due to the large number of people switching to private transportation due to the presence of the Jakarta-Cikampek elevated toll road.

"The number of bus passengers has decreased. I can explain that it seems that the community is still experimenting with the condition of the toll roads connecting several provinces / cities. The number of vehicles was 5.6 million vehicles, up 17 percent. So many residents take private vehicles, ”he said in Jakarta, Monday, January 6.

He assessed that this condition had been predicted and hoped that in the next Lebaran transportation, people could switch to public transportation again.

"The Minister of Transportation also predicted that. The competitor buses are indeed private cars, hopefully by the time of Eid transportation, they will return to public transportation. We repair our public transportation facilities, the points and nodes are also repaired, "he said.

Based on the PT Jasa Marga Command Post on January 5, 2020, it can be seen that the number of vehicles on the toll roads for the 2019 Christmas and New Year 2020 transportation periods D-6 to D + 11 is 5.6 million vehicles.

The number of vehicles increased by 17.76 percent when compared to the number of vehicles in the previous year of 4.7 million vehicles.

Meanwhile, for free homecoming carried out by the Directorate General of Land Transportation in collaboration with PT Jasa Marga, it can be seen that the percentage of fulfilling the Free Homecoming quota reaches 95 percent.

"Therefore, the free homecoming that has been implemented can be said to be successful and for 2020 the program is expected to be continued," he said.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Nur Isnis, said the number of aircraft passengers had decreased, but it was still higher than expected

"We are predicting a decline, but airplane users are bigger than our predictions. The timeliness of flying at 64 percent is quite good with the condition of Halim Airport being inundated, "he said.
