Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Commissioner Of Inalum And Also A Close Friend Of Luhut Who Became Chairman Of The LPS

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa as a Member of the Board of Commissioners, as well as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 23.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also appointed three members of the LPS Board of Commissioners, namely Didik Madiyono, Luky Affirman and Destry Damayanti.

"By Allah, I swear that I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and will carry out all laws and regulations as straightforwardly for the sake of my service to the nation and state," said all members of the LPS Board of Commissioners (DK) when reading oath of office in front of President Jokowi, quoted from Antara.

"In carrying out my position, I will uphold job ethics, work my best with a full sense of responsibility," they said.

The appointment of Purbaya and the other three as Members of the LPS DK is stated in Presidential Decree Number 58 / M / 2020 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Members of the LPS Board of Commissioners. The DK LPS members are appointed for a five-year term.

Before being appointed as head of the LPS, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa was the Deputy for Maritime Sovereignty and Energy Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Marves). Purbaya is known to be close to the Coordinating Minister for Marves, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, because she often works together in an agency.

An alumnus of the Bandung Institute of Technology in the field of Electrical Engineering, and who won a Doctorate in Economics from Purdue University, Indiana, United States, he has served as Head of the Danareksa Research Institute, Director of PT Danareksa (Persero), and Deputy III for Strategic Issues Management at the Presidential Staff Office.

What's interesting is, Purbaya still serves as a Commissioner in the mining holding of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), namely PT Inalum (Persero) or Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID).

Attending the oath of office at the State Palace included Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Wimboh Santoso.

Then the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, and Minister of State Secretary Pratikno.
