KKB Fired a Series of Shots in Sugapa District, Papua
JAKARTA - The armed criminal group (KKB) is terrorizing again. KKB fired a series of shots in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua.
"This morning, there was a shooting from the KKB group. They were in high altitude areas," said Papua Police Chief Inspector General, Paulus Waterpauw, when contacted by VOI, Wednesday, September 23.
The shooting occurred when the Regent Intan Jaya plane was about to land. According to Paulus, the Regent of Intan Jaya is based in Nabire due to security conditions.
"When the police chief was heading to the airport, they heard gunfire. The gunshot team approached them," said Paulus.
According to Paulus, the mountainous conditions of the Sugapa region made it difficult to catch up to the KKB. They used to shoot from the cliff at high altitude.
"KKB has been there for a long time. There are 14 shots since January. But, the current situation in Sugapa District is relatively safe," continued Paulus.
Last weekend, the gunfire occurred between the TNI and the KKB, around the Koramil to prepare for Hipadipa, Intan Jaya Regency. One soldier died, namely Pratu Dwi Akbar Utomo.
