Hamlet Bridge In Malang Collapses, Pickup Car Slips, 2 People Injured

MALANG - Two people were injured as a result of the collapse of the bridge connecting the hamlets in Wiyurejo Village, Malang Regency, East Java.

The Head of the Gakkum Laka Traffic Unit of the Batu Police, Aiptu Trimo, said the victim was the driver of the pickup, Siswanto (40) who fell along with his car.

One other victim Amirul Mu'minin (30) who also fell while walking across the bridge. Both of them have now been rushed to Baptist Hospital, Batu City for medical treatment.

"The driver of the victim suffered a broken left leg. The pedestrian victim suffered serious shoulder injuries. He has been treated at the hospital,” said Trimo, Thursday, March 17.

The collapsed bridge is 12 meters long and 2.5 meters wide.

Meanwhile, the Head of Wiyurejo Village, Muflid Harid, said the bridge collapsed because it was already fragile.

As a result of this incident, residents had to turn the road to access between hamlets. The village head said that his party had proposed repairing the bridge but had not yet received a response.
