KPU 2017-2022 And 2022-2027 Periods Hold Meetings To Discuss 2024 Election Stages
JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) commissioners for the 2017-2022 period and the elected KPU commissioners for the 2022-2027 period held a meeting today.
KPU commissioner Hasyim Asyari revealed that the meeting had an agenda for discussing KPU regulations (PKPU) regarding the stages of organizing the 2024 General Election until the registration of political parties participating in the election.
"Today, taking place in the main meeting room of the KPU Office, a meeting of KPU members for the 2017-2022 period with the elected KPU members from 2022 to 2027 will be held. The agenda discussed is the draft PKPU for the election stage and the draft PKPU for party registration," Hasyim told reporters, Wednesday, March 16. .
In the midst of the plan to organize the 2024 General Election, there was a change in the position of the KPU commissioner. The KPU commissioners for the 2017-2022 period carry out the preparation of KPU regulations and the stages will be carried out by the KPU for the 2022-2027 period.
Therefore, Hasyim said that this meeting was held with the hope that the 2024 General Election could be carried out smoothly.
"This meeting is designed as a transition process for the KPU leadership so that the preparation process for the 2024 General Election, which will begin in June 2022, can run smoothly and according to the schedule of stages that have been planned," said Hasyim.
Previously, Commission II of the House of Representatives had appointed members of the KPU and Bawaslu for the 2022-2027 period.
The seven elected KPU members are Betty Epsilon Idroos, Hasyim Asy'ari, Mochammad Afifuddin, Parsadaan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik and August Mellaz.
Meanwhile, the five Bawaslu members are Lolly Suhenty, Puadi, Rahmat Bagja, Totok Haryono and Herwyn Jefler Hielsa Malonda.
Meanwhile, the terms of office of the KPU and Bawaslu for the 2017-2022 period will end on April 11, 2022. However, until now there has been no official schedule from the Palace regarding the inauguration of the new election organizers by President Joko Widodo.
