1. Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemum sap contains the phytochemical compound Alantolactone. These compounds can irritate the skin on contact and increase sensitivity to sunlight. That means, when trimming regularly you need to wear gloves to be safe and not irritated by the sap.

2. Fig plant

Known by the scientific name Ficus benjamina, the fig plant is a popular houseplant. But contact with the sap can cause allergic reactions including dermatitis. This is often experienced by someone who is sensitive or allergic to latex. In rare cases, contact with ficus sap can result in anaphylactic shock.

3. Sweet potato plant

This plant is perennial, because it can grow eternally as long as the tuber is still active. Also known as parsnips, like members of the carrot family, these plants have an irritating sap that when absorbed into the skin can cause itching, blistering, and darkening or burning of the skin.

4. Philodendron

This beautiful ornamental plant and the price can skyrocket, it has a sap that is also irritating if it hits the skin. In addition, the sap is also toxic when ingested in large doses. Therefore, you need to ensure safety in gardening. Although this plant is beautiful, it is necessary to anticipate that it will not be irritated or eaten, for example by using safe gardening equipment.

5. Alstroemeria

Alstroemeria is popularly known as the Peruvian Lily or the Lily of the Incas. This type of flowering ornamental plant has pink or orange flowers. Compounds in the sap containing tulipalin are produced when the plant tissue is damaged. Sometimes when pruning naturally, Alstroemeria produces compounds that irritate the skin. What's more, swallowing the sap, because it can cause mild vomiting or diarrhea. If in contact with the skin, the sap can cause rashes, blisters, and even eye irritation.
