8,013 Square Meters Of Cannabis Farms In Aceh Planted 13 Thousand Stems Finally Destroyed
JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) destroyed a marijuana field after covering an area of 8,013 square meters in Meurah Hamlet, Lamteuba Village, Aceh Besar District, Aceh Province.
"Starting from the findings of BNN on March 5, 2022, we destroyed a marijuana field in Meurah Hamlet, Lamteuba Village, Seulimeum District, Aceh Besar Regency, Aceh Province," said Director of Narcotics Deputy for Eradication of BNN Brigadier General Pol. Roy Hardi Siahaan as quoted from the official website of BNN RI in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 16.
The BNN team of 117 people, led by Roy Hardi, managed to clear approximately 13,000 cannabis plants that were ready to be harvested, Tuesday (15/3).
"As a form of cross-agency synergy, BNN also involves the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), the Civil Service Unit (Satpol PP), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Forestry, (Ditjen) Customs and Excise (Kemenkeu), and the State Attorney's Office to participate in the destruction of the marijuana fields," said Brigadier General Roy Hardi Siahaan as quoted by Antara.
The destruction of the cannabis fields at these two points is one of a series of activities ahead of the BNN's 20th Anniversary celebrations. He added that there were also other activities held in order to welcome the anniversary of BNN on March 22, 2022.
According to him, the efforts being carried out by BNN are currently in accordance with Article 111 Paragraph (2) of Law no. 35 of 2009.
With the destruction of the marijuana fields, he hopes that the public will be more aware of the laws and regulations in Indonesia, which strictly prohibits the ownership, cultivation, and illicit trafficking of cannabis plants as class 1 narcotics.
The extermination was Roy Hardi's first task after being appointed Director of Narcotics Deputy for Eradication on March 4, 2022.
