Intensively Constructing New Buildings At The End Of Term Of Office, OJK Boss: This Is The Result Of Levies From The Financial Industry
JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) at the beginning of this year continued to strive for the establishment of adequate infrastructure facilities to support optimal performance. One of the priorities is the establishment of office buildings in a number of regions in Indonesia.
Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Wimboh Santoso, said that the presence of regional authority offices has a strategic role to be able to immediately optimize the programs and policies that are made.
According to him, this facility can support efforts to create new economic sources, increase intermediation of financial institutions in supporting financing, and provide protection for consumers in the financial services sector.
"To realize OJK office buildings in this area, OJK does not wait for them to be given, but tries to do it themselves with funds from levies that are managed and optimized without having to reduce the quality of budget use for the implementation of the main function of supervision of the financial services sector," he said in a press statement. during the soft launching of the East Java Regional 4 OJK Office Building, quoted on Wednesday, March 16.
Wimboh added that his party is committed to continuously strengthening its role and function as a supervisor and regulator of financial services institutions, protecting consumers in the financial services sector, as well as supporting regional economic recovery with the existence of these offices.
"In particular, the OJK Regional 4 East Java office will provide a wider space for us and the financial sector to be able to play its role in contributing to improving the economy and welfare of the people in East Java Province," he said.
For information, Wimboh previously also inaugurated the OJK Purwokerto Office and the OJK Malang Office earlier this year.
Meanwhile, within a decade of the birth of OJK, this branch of Bank Indonesia has owned 14 office buildings in Bandung, Semarang, Palembang, Surabaya, Purwokerto, Solo, Yogyakarta, Mataram, Malang, Ambon, Pekanbaru, Makassar, Kendari and Jayapura.
Two of them are grants from the provincial government and five plots of land are also ready to be built, namely in Medan, Tasikmalaya, Jambi, Lampung and Banjarbaru.
Meanwhile, based on information compiled by the editors, the OJK's dues levy on the financial industry in 2019 was IDR 5.99 trillion.
This figure is dominated by banks worth Rp. 4.02 trillion. This was followed by the capital market at Rp894.38 billion, the non-bank financial industry or IKNB at Rp775.46 billion, and strategic management at Rp299.55 billion. Then, in 2020 the value of contributions withdrawn from business actors was recorded at Rp. 6.2 trillion.
