Police Arrest Methamphetamine Dealers In Schools In Balige, North Sumatra

MEDAN - Police officers arrested a dealer of methamphetamine in a school in the Balige sub-district, Toba district, North Sumatra.

"The perpetrator who was arrested has the initials D, a resident of Rantauprapat, Labuhanbatu Regency," said Head of the Public Relations Sub-Division of the Toba Police, Iptu Bungaran, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 15.

The arrest of the suspect was based on community reports related to the rampant circulation of narcotics in the school environment in the area.

Based on the report, officers conducted an investigation and succeeded in arresting the suspect when he was about to conduct a drug transaction at a school in Lumban Gaol Village, Balige District.

"The suspect was arrested while trying to sell methamphetamine allegedly to students in the local area. We will investigate this further," he said.

Officers confiscated evidence in the form of a large package of methamphetamine, money from the sale of Rp. 1.1 million and one mobile phone unit.

The officers then took the suspect along with the evidence to the Toba Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings.

"Suspect D is subject to Article 114 paragraph (1) subs Article 112 paragraph (1) and Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics," he said.
