Mandalika MotoGP Racers Are Sure To Arrive Tomorrow
JAKARTA – The riders who will participate in the Mandalika 2022 MotoGP are confirmed to have arrived on Wednesday, March 16 tomorrow.
Currently only a few riders are already in Indonesia. Among them the Repsol Honda racer Marc Marquez who just landed in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 15 night.
Marquez arrived known from the latest upload on his personal Instagram some time ago. He is one of 20 racers scheduled to meet President Joko Widodo and parade in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
"Racers already in Jakarta on Wednesday will get ready at Wisma Negara and then ride their motorbikes to the Merdeka Palace to meet President Joko Widodo," said Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) president director Priandhi Satria in a statement.
Apart from Marquez, several names of racers who will be participating in the motorcycle parade in Jakarta include Joan Mir (Suzuki) and Jack Miller (Ducati). There was also Indonesian rider Mario Suryo Aji who appeared in Moto3 in the group.
The racers will depart from the Merdeka Palace to the Kempinski Hotel at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout. The parade will take an hour.
Meanwhile, racers who do not participate in the parade will immediately fly to Lombok. Like the defending champion Fabio Quartararo who is currently on the island.
"Our hope, the target, is that on Wednesday night all those who did not participate in the parade will arrive in Lombok. Those participating in the new parade will fly to Lombok on Thursday. As far as I know, they have several flights but arrive here (Lombok). So, maybe we can be sure they are in Indonesia. all," said Priandhi.
The Mandalika race will take place on March 20. This is the second series in the MotoGP calendar this year.
Currently the MotoGP standings are still held by Enea Bastianini from Ducati. The Italian rider took the first podium in the Qatar series on March 6, beating Brad Binder (KTM) in second and Pol Espargaro (Honda) in third.
