Not Wanting To Add To The Polemic, Gerindra Refuses To Respond To Luhut's Claim About Big Data On Election Delays
JAKARTA - The daily chairman of Gerindra's DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, refuses to respond to the claims of Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan regarding data on people's aspirations who are not interested in the 2024 election. Luhut claims that the public wants the 2024 election to be postponed for reasons of calm. According to Dasco, his party is reluctant to add to the growing polemic in the public. He emphasized that the issue of postponing the election was only a discourse.
"There are many practitioners, observers, politicians, people commenting on big data regarding the postponement of elections. Therefore, I don't want to add to the polemic, especially since it's just a discourse, there is no concrete political process, either in the DPR or in the MPR," he said. Dasco at the House of Representatives, Tuesday, March 15.
The deputy chairman of the DPR stated that his party was still in the commitment to the existing legal framework that the stages of conducting the elections had been determined. He reminded that Simultaneous Elections will be held on February 14, 2024.
"It's clear when the stages will run and when the elections will be held. As long as it's still our commitment, I think it's still like that," said Dasco. "So I don't want to add to the polemic and no further comments," he continued.
Dasco also reiterated Gerindra's stance that it will continue to comply with the constitution.
"We are not in favor of rejecting, Gerindra's position is to follow the rules in accordance with the current regulations," he said.
