Athlete's Quick Response, Bobby Nasution Orders Renovation Of Medan's Exemplary Stadium To International Standards To Become AFF Cup Venue
MEDAN - The Medan City Government's plan to renovate the Exemplary Stadium was carried out to answer athletes' complaints about sports facilities. Therefore, the Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution wants the renovation of the stadium, which opened in 1953, to an international standard.
In this way, it is hoped that Bobby Nasution's Exemplary Stadium will become the venue for the AFF Cup match.
"At a minimum, if the AFF Cup is held in Indonesia, the Exemplary Stadium can be used as a place to compete. For this reason, this renovation must refer to standards that are recognized by the world, whether it's a matter of grass, field area, audience capacity, and others," said Bobby Nasution in Exposition of the Exemplary Stadium design, Monday, March 14
Bobby Nasution stated, the design of the Teladan Stadium must be beautiful. However, the most important thing for him is the sports facilities.
"But the most important thing is the sports facilities first, the beautiful design is an additional option. But from this renovation, the main option is how the sports facilities are really improved, can be used better than today," he said.
"Starting from the grass, the rooms that athletes need, be it when there is a match or practice," he continued.
In addition, President Jokowi's son-in-law said that the renovation of the Teladan Stadium was not only concerned with the facilities enjoyed by visitors and spectators. But also the facilities enjoyed by athletes who use them.
"So if the AFF Cup is held in Indonesia, the Exemplary Stadium can be used as an option as a venue for matches," he said.
Bobby Nasution said that both Asian and international playing fields have certain standards. He asked the consultant to provide an explanation of the standards.
"Thus, it can be seen what changes have been made to the Exemplary Stadium after it was renovated, both its function for sports and its function as a new icon of Medan City. So it is not only pleasing to the eye for visitors, but the athletes feel that the facilities inside are not full," he said.
He also asked that the field standards that were built were explained in detail.
"What are the FIFA standards, what are the AFC standards, and what are the Exemplary Stadiums after renovation to what standards?"
In addition to the design of the Teladan Stadium, at that time the consultant also gave an exposure about the renovation design of the Flower Garden. In principle, Bobby Nasution also commented that this design accommodates the needs of sports in Medan.
Bobby Nasution said that the renovation of the Flower Gardens could provide training facilities for sports branches and the main secretariat for sports branches that excel.
