Home Affairs Minister Tito Asks Candidates For Regional Heads To Give Away PPE During Campaigns
JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian asked the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) to require candidate pairs to make personal protective equipment (PPE) the main campaign material in the 2020 Pilkada.
PPE that the community can use includes masks, hand sanitizers, soap, and disinfection tools. This is intended to reduce transmission of COVID-19.
"If possible, the main props we propose are those that can prevent or cut transmission. We recommend that masks to hand sanitizers with serial numbers are not only permissible, but mandatory," said Tito at a hearing at the DPR RI, Monday, September 21. .
Tito also suggested that the candidate pairs who later campaign to hand over their success team to distribute PPE campaign materials massively and door to door.
"There are 738 prospective pairs of candidates who have been registered. If there are only 100 thousand per contestant, then 70 million more PPE will be divided," he explained.
For information, the provisions regarding campaign materials are regulated in the draft KPU Regulation (PKPU) amended from PKPU Number 4 of 2017 which is currently about to be promulgated.
In the PKPU revision, it is regulated that campaign materials can be in the form of leaflets, brochures, pamphlets, clothing, headgear, cutlery, calendars, business cards, pins, stationery, umbrellas, and stickers.
Each campaign material, if converted into money, has a maximum value of Rp.60 thousand. Apart from campaign materials, campaign props such as billboards, banners, banners, billboards and videotrons were also arranged.
