Supporting The Mandalika MotoGP, KM Kelud Provides 1,500 Free Floating Hotels

JAKARTA - In order to support the need for beds in the 2022 MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or Pelni (Persero) fielded KM Kelud. MotoGP itself will take place on March 18-20.

KM Kelud is a 2,000 pax type ship that can provide beds for 2,000 people. However, 1,500 beds will be prepared for the Floating Hotel assignment.

“KM Kelud received an assignment from the Government cq the Ministry of Transportation to increase the number of hotel rooms in Mandalika, Lombok. In this assignment, we are also collaborating with the NTB Regional Government and other parties who support the 2022 Moto GP," said PT Pelni's Passenger Transportation Business Director Yahya Kuncoro in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, quoted Monday, March 14.

He said, KM Kelud itself usually serves the regular route, namely Tanjung Priok-Batam-Tanjung Balai Karimun-Belawan. However, to support the reliability of the bed, the Ministry of Transportation assigned his party.

"The Floating Hotel is an alternative for accommodation for the spectators of the 2022 Mandalika GP Motor," said Yahya.

KM Kelud departed from Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta on Sunday, March 13 at 18.00 to Gili Mas Harbor, Lombok. The boat will arrive at Gili Mas on Tuesday, March 15 at 08.00.

"The journey from Tanjung Priok port to Gili Mas Harbor, Lombok will take around 43 hours of sailing," said Yahya.

Arriving at Gili Mas Harbor, KM Kelud was assigned as a Floating Hotel. The ship will dock at Gili Mas Harbor from March 15-21, 2022. While the use of the ship is for the Floating Hotel and is ready to be used by the Moto GP Mandalika 2022 spectators from March 17-21, 2022.

For spectators of the Moto GP Mandalika 2022 who will use KM Kelud, they are required to have tickets to watch the Moto GP Mandalika as well as a number of other requirements.
