Working Visit In Yogyakarta, President Jokowi Checks Cooking Oil Stock In Traditional Markets And Supermarkets
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) checked the availability and prices of cooking oil at supermarkets and traditional markets during a working visit in Yogyakarta on Sunday, March 13.
The President came to a mini market located at Pasar Kembang Yogyakarta, at around 09.05 WIB and went straight to the cooking oil rack, unfortunately the President found the shelf empty.
"Since when isn't there?" asked President Jokowi as in the video on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube channel which was broadcast on Sunday as reported by Antara.
"Just this morning, sir," replied the minimarket guard.
"How much?" asked President Jokowi.
"For two liters it is Rp. 28,000, but for one liter it is Rp. 14,000," replied the minimarket guard.
"OK, thank you but later (the oil) will come again, right?" asked the President.
"You don't have to, sir," said the shopkeeper.
In addition to visiting supermarkets, the President also checked the availability of cooking oil at traders in Beringharjo Market and Sentul Market, Yogyakarta.
"How much it costs?" asked the President at a shop in Beringharjo Market, pointing to a bottle of packaged cooking oil.
"Rp 20,000 sir, I bought it at a big wholesaler, it's not expensive," replied the merchant.
"Buy how much?" asked the President.
"IDR 18,000 less," replied the merchant.
The trader also expressed the uncertainty of cooking oil stocks.
"The goods are there, but they are expensive," said the President, commenting on the high price of cooking oil.
"There is but it's slow, sir, it will take a long time when it runs out," said the merchant. The president then bought 2 bottles of 1 liter cooking oil for Rp. 20,000. The president gave several Rp. 100,000 bills to the merchant.
The President then turned to Pasar Sentul Yogyakarta. At that location, the President also learned from traders that there was no definite answer when the cooking oil would be delivered.
In one shop, President Jokowi bought 1 liter of cooking oil in premium packaging for Rp. 15,000 and returned Rp. 100,000 without asking for a refund.
In addition to buying packaged cooking oil, President Jokowi in the show bought bulk cooking oil and bottled cooking oil for IDR 14,000.
