Sold From Rp6.1 Million, IPhone SE 5G Predicted To Be Successful In Asia

JAKARTA - The latest product, Apple iPhone SE 5G, is predicted to be successful and can compete with Android phones in the Asian region.

As quoted by Reuters quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 13, Firma Cowen and Company, sees this latest generation iPhone Se will be effective in increasing market share "among price sensitive consumers, especially in Asia".

The 2022 iPhone SE is marketed for US$429 or approximately Rp. 6.1 million, which is expected to be attractive to consumers in emerging markets.

Cowen and Company analyst Krish Sankar sees the price of the latest iPhone SE 30 US dollars higher than the previous generation, which still relies on 4G networks.

This technological upgrade of course results in extra costs, but, according to Sankar, the margins are lower than the iPhone 13 mini which costs $699. He estimates the iPhone SE's gross margin to be between 42 percent and 54 percent.

Data from Counterpoint Research shows the iPhone SE 4G accounted for 12 percent of total iPhone sales since it was first launched in the second quarter of 2020 until the end of 2021.

Japan and the US are the biggest iPhone SE 4G markets. Counterpoint Research analyst Sujeong Lim estimates that demand for the iPhone SE 5G will come from Europe, Korea and Southeast Asia.

Consumers there are less interested in the previous generation iPhone SE because they can't connect to 5G.
