Want To Increase Fee Based Income, Bank BTN Will Acquire 25,000 EDC Machines

JAKARTA - PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) is aggressively acquiring Electronic Data Capture (EDC) machine merchants to increase the acquisition of fee based income (FBI) and low cost funds (low cost funding). The acquisition action is also in line with the digital transformation efforts carried out by Bank BTN.

President Director of Bank BTN, Pahala Nugraha Mansury explained that today's business competition requires a variety of innovations, especially during a pandemic. Bank BTN, he continued, has carried out digital transformation to support the company's products and services in order to compete and provide the best service for customers.

One of them is that the company is aggressively acquiring EDC to make transactions easier for customers.

"By the end of the year, Bank BTN will acquire around 25,000 EDCs which can be utilized by BTN customers as a form of extra service that we can provide," said Pahala in Jakarta, Monday, September 21.

In addition to providing convenience for customers, Pahala said the EDC acquisition was also in line with the company's strategy to increase FBI and low-cost funds.

"We continue to explore various strategies to increase income and cheap funds," he said.

Meanwhile, Director of Operations, IT, & Digital Banking of Bank BTN Andi Nirwoto said that until now the company has penetrated various merchants related to the property sector, in line with its main business.

Bank BTN, continued Andi, has provided EDCs ranging from developers, tool and building material stores, to notary offices.

The company is also actively acquiring merchants from other sectors ranging from food, health facilities, tourist attractions, to retail companies.

"We are currently implementing the 22,000 EDC acquisition with Indomaret," Andi explained.

According to Andi, efforts to maximize the acquiring business are also in line with the commitment to increase low-cost funds. The goal, he added, is to support the company's housing finance business in order to make the One Million Houses Program a success.

As well as Indomaret, several merchants that were acquired included Steak Hotel By Holicow, TWC Borobudur, TWC Prambanan, Krisna Balinese Souvenirs, The Basket, and Alfamart.

Meanwhile, until the end of August 2020, the issuer coded as BBTN shares recorded more than 132 million transactions through the electronic banking line. This number increased by around 29.05 percent on an annual basis (year-on-year / yoy) from 102.95 million transactions in the same period last year.

"We will continue to maximize this acquiring business to make it easier for our customers to transact using Bank BTN," said Andi.
