Tito Karnavian Disagrees With A Concert During The Election, There Are RRI And TVRI Which Can Be Substituted Channels
JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian emphasized that crowds involving large crowds must be limited, especially during the campaign at the regional head election (Pilkada) stage.
"So it's like, sorry, general meeting, I don't agree with a general meeting, let alone a concert, I don't agree, so I wrote a letter directly to the KPU, the Ministry of Home Affairs objected to that," said Tito.
He asked for the restriction of all those who could potentially not keep their distance. But, he realized, it would be unfair when this restriction was implemented totally because it only benefited the incumbent.
Therefore, his suggestion was to campaign in a closed meeting. Tito suggested that this limited meeting or meeting could only be attended by a maximum of 50 people. Even then, you must keep your distance.
Furthermore, Tito encouraged the online campaign in this regional election. He said, this could also be an opportunity for a campaign event organizer.
"Well, there are obstacles that do not have good communication channels, but there is RRI and TVRI that can penetrate and in some green areas there is still limited campaigning," said Tito.
Therefore, continued Tito, the 2020 Pilkada, when it is properly set, will become a golden momentum to make 270 regions holding elections move to deal with COVID-19.
"The public is raised, choose a leader who can handle COVID-19 and the socio-economic impact in their respective regions. The campaign must be carried out so that the community will use their voting rights to choose a leader who can solve this problem in their region," he said.
Therefore, said Tito, regulations are needed to prevent social crowds and to encourage and oblige these regional head candidates and their success teams to carry out massive campaigns such as distributing masks, hand sanitizers or soap. Or also make soap dispensers in public places with the names of the pairs of candidates.
"The more the better, it will actually help take steps to handle COVID-19," he said.
