Not Ruling Out President Putin's Meeting With President Zelenskiy, Kremlin: In Theory It Is Possible
JAKARTA - The Kremlin has not ruled out a meeting between President Vladimir Putin of Russia and President Vladimir Zelensky of Ukraine, but the meeting must be carefully prepared for a result, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
"No one has ruled out the possibility of a meeting between Putin and Zelensky. In theory, it is indeed possible," he said, commenting on the statement by Turkish Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kalin that a meeting between the two countries' leaders may take place in the near future.
At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman pointed out, "firstly, delegates and ministers need to do their part to ensure, the president does not meet just for the sake of process and conversation but holds meetings to achieve results."
"Russia's position is not a secret, it has been formulated and is brought to the attention of the Ukrainian negotiators. We are waiting to receive their clarification," Peskov added.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba on Thursday that President Putin has never refused to hold contacts, but Moscow is not seeking contact after contact, but wants to make a special agreement.
