MUI: Moving The National Capital For The Benefit Of The People

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH. Marsudi Syuhud emphasized that the relocation of the national capital (IKN) from Jakarta to East Kalimantan was a policy for the benefit of the people.

"Of the 258 million Indonesians, there must be people who think differently from ours. But for me, because the duty of the state is to build. In fact, the affairs of the state in terms of building for now are a must," said Marsudi in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara. , Friday.

He said not all people could agree with the government's decision due to various considerations. But on the other hand, the government has considered various aspects before deciding to move IKN.

Marsudi explained that in general there are two main things in development, first, namely building to prosper the region and building the economy.

"For example, IKN Nusantara aims to build and equalize the economy, at least the community will improve its economy, and there will be an even distribution of population. So it is not only concentrated in Java," he explained.

For the second, continued Marsudi, the determination of Kalimantan as an IKN is appropriate because it is located in the middle of the territory of Indonesia. Geographically, Kalimantan tends to be safe from potential earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

"The only island where there is no earth plate and magma passageway is Kalimantan. So this is when we are going to build something for the benefit of the population, I think this is right," he said.

Marsudi explained that the concept of migration has been exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad SAW who emigrated from Mecca to Medina. At that time the Prophet built Medina for himself and his companions without forgetting Mecca which is his homeland.

"That means, as a nation, Indonesia must love the DKI Jakarta area and love the Kalimantan area which is the new IKN. This has been exemplified by Rasulullah SAW," said Marsudi.
