Actions Of Racism Mark The First Serie A Match In 2020
JAKARTA - Lazio condemned the racial abuse aimed at Mario Balotelli during the Serie A match on Sunday, January 5 afternoon. In his official statement, Le Aquiele promised legal action against fans who committed this dishonorable act.
Lazio's 2-1 win over Brescia at the Stadio Rigamonti was halted for a few minutes when offensive chants were directed at Balotelli, including some of a racist nature.
The striker then sent a message on his Instagram about the incident.
“The Lazio fans who were there today at the stadium ARE YOU SHOULDING! #saynotoracism. "
Following Blotelli's message, Lazio released a statement regarding the latest issue of a series of racialism incidents involving their fans.
“As has always been done in the past, SS Lazio condemned the discriminatory behavior of a small minority of fans during the match against Brescia.
“The club once again reiterates its condemnation of similar unjustified behavior and affirms its intention to take legal action against those who act to betray sporting passion by seriously damaging the image of the club and the Biancocelesti team.
This is the latest in an act of racism in the many incidents that have ruined Italian football this season.
Belgium international Romelu Lukaku, who is of Congolese descent, was subjected to racist abuse by Cagliari fans in September.
Milan midfielder Franck Kessie was subjected to similar abuse at Hellas Verona later that month, before Chris Smalling (Roma) called for severe punishment for racist acts in October.
Two months ago, Mario Balotelli also reacted to the monkey's taunts on a trip to Verona by kicking the ball into the stands.
Responding to this racist act, all Italian Serie A clubs signed a letter of agreement to address the increasing racism. It's nothing, this shameful act has sparked worldwide condemnation.
Representatives of the Serie A clubs have attached their names to the open letter. They vowed to go to greater lengths together to eradicate the problem of racism. But in fact, this disgraceful act is still happening.
