KRL Only Operates Until 20.00 Starting This Saturday

JAKARTA - The operating hours of electric trains (KRL) have changed from Saturday, September 19, in connection with the imposition of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in the DKI Jakarta area. Starting Saturday, KRL will operate from 04.00 to 20.00 WIB.

The first departing trains entered the DKI Jakarta area at around 05:00 WIB and the last trains left the DKI Jakarta area at around 19:00 WIB. User capacity is still limited to 74 people per train.

"This adjustment is also in line with the operating hours regulations for other public transportation modes in the Jakarta area which operate within the same timeframe," said PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) Vice President Corpotate Communications Anne Purba in a statement quoted on Saturday, September 19.

However, he continued, considering the operational pattern of the Jabodetabek KRL which covers three provinces, serves 80 stations, and passes 418.5 kilometers of rail lines, there will be a number of trains running outside these operating hours.

"This trip is very important for services for KRL users because it is related to arrangements for stabling / parking at the departure location the next morning, as well as the need for train maintenance and washing," he said.

PT KCI continues to urge users who will take the KRL, especially at night from stations in the DKI Jakarta area to be at the station at 19:00 WIB so that they can take the KRL with the last scheduled departure.

"The latest KRL schedule, KRL real time position, and information on congestion conditions at stations can be seen through the latest version of the KRL Access application. The application can be downloaded on the Play Store for android users and the App Store for users," said Anne.

With this operating pattern, starting Saturday, September 19, 2020, KCI will run 933 KRL trips per day from the previous 975 KRL trips during the transitional PSBB period. Starting Saturday, the Jakarta Kota-Kampung Banda feeder trip will also be diverted to the Jakarta Kota-Tanjung Priok PP trip.

The number of KRL trips for each route is as follows: Bogor / Depok-Jakarta Kota pp, 207 trips per day; Lintas Bogor / Depok / Nambo-Angke / Jatinegara pp, 181 trips per day; Lintas Cikarang / Bekasi-Jakarta Kota pp, 167 trips per day; Lintas Rangkasbitung-Tanah Abang pp. 196 trips per day; Lintas Tangerang-Duri pp, 98 trips per day; Lintas Jakarta Kota-Tanjung Priok pp, 84 trips per day.

Furthermore, as a further effort to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in KRL, starting from Monday, September 21, KCI requires all users to wear masks that have been proven effective in preventing droplets or fluids that come out of the mouth and nose.

This is in accordance with the various studies that have been conducted regarding the types of masks that are effective, namely at least the type of cloth mask consisting of three layers or health masks for daily use.

"We also invite users to pay attention to the correct use of masks, which is to always cover the nose and mouth up to the chin," said Anne.

KCI again appealed to the public to continue their activities from home. In accordance with PSBB principles, residents are advised to leave their homes as needed. Public transportation continues to operate with restrictions during this PSBB period to serve those who really have urgent needs.
