IKN Construction Has Not Been Started Yet, The KPK In Fact Has Caught A 'bad Smell'
JAKARTA - Again, the land issue. And to make matters worse, this problem exists in an area that will be transformed into the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago, East Kalimantan.
The inappropriate information came from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Not kidding, the one who raised the issue was the Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata.
He said, there have been efforts to distribute land lots at IKN.
This allegation was obtained from KPK informants who were indeed scattered in various corners of the archipelago. However, Alexander revealed this during a hybrid Integrated Corruption Eradication Coordination Meeting (Rakor) on Wednesday, March 9 at the East Kalimantan Governor's Office.
"It turns out that not all of the IKN lands are clean and clearing. From our informants, there are already lots of plots divided," Alexander said as quoted from his written statement, Thursday, March 10.
Alexander ensured that the KPK would step in to oversee the development of IKN. Moreover, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked for escorts so that the gap in corruption can be closed.
"Mr. President has asked for an escort from the KPK," he said.
Furthermore, Alexander also briefly mentioned about the number of regional heads who are still corrupt despite the arrest operation (OTT). This made the anti-corruption commission concerned and questioned why similar incidents were repeated.
"For a dozen years the KPK has been present, how many regional heads have experienced OTT. That alone doesn't make others give up. This is our concern. Why does it keep repeating itself," he said.
In the future, Alexander hopes that improvements will continue to be made so that corrupt practices can be prevented. Not only that, he also advised the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan (Kaltim) to make improvements and ensure that the businesses that run in their area can provide broad benefits to the community.
"Don't let rats die in the rice barn. There should be no poor people in East Kalimantan," he said.
For information, this meeting was also attended by the Inspector General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Head of BPKP Representative, Head of the East Kalimantan Provincial ATR/BPN Regional Office, Head of West Kutai, East Kutai, Berau, Bontang, Mahakam Hulu, Balikpapan, Kutai Kertanegara, North Penajam Paser, Paser, and Forkompinda.
