Spare Battery Caught Fire, Emergency Room At Pasar Rebo Hospital Was Almost Devoured By Jago Merah
JAKARTA - A fire broke out in the emergency room at Pasar Rebo Hospital on Jalan Raya TB Simatupang, Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta, Wednesday, March 9, evening.
East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. officers began to receive reports of a fire at around 22:47 WIB from a nurse at the hospital.
"The object that burned was a spare battery on the 1st floor of the Pasar Rebo Hospital Emergency Room. The area that burned was about 15 square meters," said East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Head Gatot Sulaeman to reporters, Thursday, March 10.
As a result of the fire, the building belonging to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government suffered losses of up to Rp. 30 million.
"It is suspected that it was caused by an electrical short in the backup battery," he said.
After experiencing an electrical short in the backup battery, then the fire started. Luckily, the fire did not spread to other rooms and grew. The hospital also tried to extinguish the fire using a light fire extinguisher (APAR).
"The smoke from the APAR and the fire was quite thick in the emergency room. The fire was successfully extinguished at 23.35 WIB by 10 fire engines with 55 firefighters," he said.
