Eric Trump Is Ready To Be Examined In The Trump Organization Asset Fraud Case

JAKARTA - The son of the President of the United States (US), Eric Trump will be investigated in the investigation of alleged asset fraud by the Trump Organization. The fraud was carried out in order to obtain loans and avoid taxes.

Eric's legal adviser said that his client had expressed his willingness to be questioned, but after the US presidential election, November 3, 2020. In a response letter submitted to the court, Thursday, August 17,

Eric, through his attorney, said there were several reasons justifying the postponement, including "the travel schedule is too busy and other agendas" and "the importance of avoiding the appearance of politicization in the investigation process."

Legal advisers said they proposed four hearing dates for Eric, which began on November 19. "Eric Trump has always been and will continue to be willing to fulfill summons," said the legal advisory team.

Spokesperson for New York State Attorney General, Letitia James, in a written statement said: We cannot comment on one specific case, but we cannot let certain parties or individuals dictate how we enforce the law, nor will we let anyone escape. from a summons that is valid before the law.

Attorney James on Aug. 24 called the Trump Organization, led by Eric, avoiding a summons for investigation into "potential fraud and lawlessness". However, the prosecutor's office has not determined that there has been a violation of the law by the Trump Organization.

The New York attorney general said the investigation into the Trump Organization began after former US President Donald Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, said that the president had committed fraud in his financial statements.

According to Cohen, Trump increased the value of a number of assets to get loans and insurance and lowered the value of some assets to reduce the amount of property tax he was required to pay.

So far, prosecutors are still investigating four Trump-owned properties, namely the Seven Springs Estate in Westchester County, New York; 40 Wall Street in Manhattan; Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago, and Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles.

The Trump Organization said the investigation into Donald Trump, a Republican politician, by James, a supporter of the Democratic Party, was linked to political interests.

In a response letter to the court, Eric's team of lawyers said his client should not be obliged to submit "thousands of pages of transcripts of conversation" from his legal advisers. The AGO also summoned a team of lawyers to be examined.

The hearing regarding the summons will take place at the New York State Court in Manhattan on September 23, 2020.
