Jokowi Inaugurates At-Thohir Mosque In Depok With Modern Classical Design: May It Be A Shade Place For Brotherhood
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo hopes that the presence of the At-Thohir Mosque in Depok, West Java, can be used to increase Islamic knowledge and insight. Not only as a place of worship for Muslims.
"To become a modern da'wah center, which is intellectual, enlightening, and a shady place to establish and strengthen ties of friendship, strengthen brotherhood among human beings, and contribute to building a better Indonesian civilization," said President Jokowi when inaugurating the At-Thohir Mosque. at Tapos, Depok, West Java, Wednesday 9 March.
In addition, the President advised that the At-Thohir Mosque can be a node in strengthening tolerance and strengthening religious moderation so that it can become a reference and inspiration for the progress of the nation, as well as show Islam that is rahmatan lil alamin.
The President added that the beauty of the mosque's architecture reminds of the importance of family in Islamic symbols.
The mosque with this harmonious design, continued the President, reminded the importance of the meaning of family in shaping Islamic character.
"This important message is clearly illustrated by what was conveyed by Pak Boy (Garibaldi Boy Thohir), the large dome at the top or the head of the building surrounded by three medium and small domes, and designed to be very harmonious, very warm, and very beautiful," he said. .
At-Thohir Mosque, which was designed in a modern classical architectural style, was built on an area of 2.8 hectares. This white mosque has a capacity of 1,976 people in the area inside the mosque and 1,395 in the supporting facilities of the multi-purpose plaza.
In his report, the Chairperson of the Mochamad Thohir Foundation, Garibaldi Thohir said that the construction of this mosque was a real manifestation of children's devotion to their parents.
Garibaldi hopes that the existence of the At-Thohir Mosque can be useful in the prosperity of the wider community, as the message of the late Mochamad Thohir.
"We really hope that the At-Thohir Mosque will play an important and widely beneficial role, and can prosper the wider community like the message of the deceased to us," said Garibaldi.
