JAYAPURA - The armed criminal group (KKB) that attacked Aris Kalan, who was a worker on the construction of a social assistance house in Kumbalagupa Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua, was a subordinate of Undius Kogoya.

"It is true that from the reports received by the perpetrators of the attack, the two men were subordinates of Undius Kogoya," said Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri as quoted by Antara, in Jayapura, Wednesday, March 9 evening.

In his statement via cellular phone, Fakhiri admitted that members of the Intan Jaya Police are now continuing to investigate the case and the identity of the perpetrator is known.

From the reports received, the incident that occurred on Tuesday, March 8 started when the victim and his colleague SB checked the house they had built by taking a photo and writing down the house number.

Suddenly, two people asked where the "head of the handyman was" which was then answered no, said Fakhiri, adding that when they were numbering the victim, he was abused with a machete from behind.

Receiving the attack, the victim immediately fled into the bushes, while the witness who was also his partner tried to fight back by taking blocks in the yard.

The two perpetrators then ran away and he shouted to call and look for the victim, but could not find him until finally he was informed by the mothers that Aris had been evacuated to the puskesmas.

After being treated by the medical team at the Sugapa Health Center, Aris was evacuated to Nabire and is now being treated at Nabire Hospital, said Inspector General Fakhiri.

The Papuan police chief appealed to the community, especially those in vulnerable areas, to be careful when doing their activities.

"Stay alert when doing outdoor activities because if we are careless, we can become targets of violence by the KKB," said Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Fakhiri.
