Firli Bahuri Award For The Wife Who Created The KPK Hymn And Mars Campaign Leads To A Report To The Supervisory Board

JAKARTA - The head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri was reported to the KPK Supervisory Board. This time the report was made because of the awarding of his wife, Ardina Safitri, the creator of the KPK hymn and march.

Alumni of the 2020 Anti-Corruption Journalism Academy (AJLK), Korneles Materay said the reporting was carried out because Firli's award for Ardina Safitri had a conflict of interest.

"We view that this husband-wife relationship is thick with the nuances of a conflict of interest," said Korneles after submitting a report to the KPK Supervisory Board, Wednesday, March 9.

Regarding this conflict of interest, Korneles said, it has actually been regulated in two laws and regulations, namely Law Number 30 of 2014 concerning Government Administration and Regulation of the Corruption Eradication Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (Perkom) Number 5 of 2019 concerning Management of Conflicts of Interest at the Corruption Eradication Commission.

So that in making decisions, all KPK personnel, including Firli Bahuri and four other leaders, must refer to the existing rules. The goal is to maintain neutrality when making decisions.

Furthermore, Korneles also suspected that there was a serious problem in the creation of this KPK hymn and march. One of them is not declaring a conflict of interest in the process of making the song in accordance with Perkom Number 5 of 2019.

"The contents oblige every member of the KPK to notify their superiors. In this context, Firli should have declared it to other commissioners and the Supervisory Board. This incident also illustrates the absence of a check and balance mechanism within the KPK," he explained.

"We are worried that Firli's dominant role in institutional policy-making will make it seem as if the collegial collective principle is erased from the leadership side of the KPK," Korneles added.

With the report, he hopes that the KPK Supervisory Board can immediately summon Firli Bahuri. "This is important because the function of the Dewas is to ensure that," he said.

"We want this to be a momentum for improvement," concluded Korneles.
