Wanda Hamidah's Criticism Of Face Whitening And Geprek Chicken Makes Warganet Split
JAKARTA - The excitement of influencers who were brought by a face whitening cream brand to Paris to see a fashion show in the middle of Paris Fashion Week drew criticism from Wanda Hamidah. Not only that, Wanda Hamidah also criticized the fried chicken, which is one of the sponsors.
Wanda Hamidah said she wanted to give a true lesson about Paris Fashion Week. He admitted that he did not want the Indonesian people to be fooled by using the word Paris Fashion Week.
"Going international means that the target market for a product is outside the country. (Check Google dictionary or Google translate). But if you claim to go international / 'occupied Paris' but your target market is still in your country, what do you do," wrote Wanda Hamidah via Instagram stories.
"You think people in Paris will use your whitening products? They banned whitening products because their campaign is all good skin tones. No more whitening products," he continued.
In addition, Wanda Hamidah hopes that geprek chicken will one day become the world's favorite food. "Hopefully one day the geprek chicken can open a restaurant branch on the Champs Elysees! It's loved by the world's citizens! That's just going international," Wanda Hamidah wrote in her Instagram Stories.
The criticism has divided netizens. There are those who support Wanda, there are also those who think that Wanda is jealous. Many attacked Wanda, but she did not budge.
The @mrluckyheng account also highlighted the virality of a number of brands including Indonesian designers who claimed to be present at Paris Fashion Week. If you look at the official Paris Fashion Week schedule, there are no local Indonesian brands that are included in the show.
"A bit resentful of Indonesian brands claiming to be in Paris Fashion Week this year. Everyone dares to claim and use the name Paris Fashion Week, but no one dares to tag @parisfashionweek," said @mrluckyheng on March 7.
"The name is also Fashion Week, non-fashion brands are never eligible to enter Paris Fashion Week. Not Beauty Week or Culinary Week. On the FHCM website it is also clearly stated," explained @mrluckyheng.
According to him, the claim to appear at the biggest fashion event has been going on for a long time. However, this is the first time that there are many brands making claims and not only from the fashion aspect but also from culinary and others.
Lucky emphasized that the Indonesian brand that appeared was not part of Paris Fashion Week 2022 but a show in Paris. They are riding the current Paris Fashion Week 2022.
"Just a show in Paris but not on Paris Fashion Week," he said.
One of the owners of the face whitening brand, Shandy Purnamasari, has already answered the scathing satire that Wanda Hamidah made earlier. In this event, MS Glow collaborated with designer Leanne Marshall.
"I'm not in the world of fashion. My insight about fashion isn't too broad so I don't really understand that, we're just a local brand that is given the opportunity to collaborate with foreign brands. For me, our goal in Paris is to bring our products to the world. We are known for our batik, bring dangdut to go International and even launch original Indonesian products there," wrote Shandy Purnamasari.
Shandy Purnamasari questioned what things finally became a scene. Shandy Purnamasari asked to continue to support Indonesian brands known abroad.
"So what are you guys fussing about? The fashion brand that we collaborate with is using #parisfashionweek #pfw why in the story and feed! At least if you can't contribute, you can with appreciation," he said.
