Lantamal IV Holds Operations For Law Enforcement At Sea

TANJUNGPINANG - The Navy IV Main Base (Lantamal IV) Tanjungpinang held a maritime security patrol preparedness operation to prevent and take action against law violations at sea.

"Other types of law violations at sea that are the target of marine security operations include violations of territorial waters, smuggling of goods, people smuggling, violations of fisheries regulations, marine pollution, destruction of coral reefs and marine life," said Commander of Lantamal IV, First Admiral TNI. Dwika Tjahja Setiawan in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 9.

Dwika stated that this operation is carried out annually by involving 14 elements consisting of 7 elements of Satrol Lantamal IV (KAL Welang, KAL Anakonda, KAL Marapas, KAL Mapor, Sea Rider, Patkamla Setumu and Patkamla Paku), 3 elements of Lanal Batam (KAL Nipah, Combat Boat, Sea Rider), and 4 elements of Lanal Tanjung Balai Karimun (KAL Pelawan, Combat Boat, Sea Rider 1, and Sea Rider 2).

The operating sectors in the waters that are the working area of Lantamal IV include parts of the Malacca Strait, the Philips Strait, the Singapore Strait, the North Riau Strait, the North Bintan to Berakit Waters, the Karimun Waters, and the Batam Waters.

He conveyed that this operation was carried out as an application of the priority program of the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral Yudo Margono, especially in increasing the ability of the Navy to deal with unconventional threats.

In addition, he said, this was a follow-up to the Telegram of the Commander of the Fleet Command I (Pangkoarmada I) Rear Admiral Arsyad Abdullah.

"The Navy has formed a Special Task Force in order to tackle the rampant crime of piracy, especially in the Singapore Strait waters," he said.

This activity was marked by the launch of the "Garda Jala Sakti 22.1" marine security patrol preparedness operation led by Danlantamal IV at the Maintenance and Repair Facility (Fasharkan) Pier of Mentigi Tanjung Uban, Bintan, Monday (7/3).
