Anies Will Change DKI Provincial Government Service Vehicle To Electricity
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan admitted that he plans to replace the official vehicles of the DKI Provincial Government which have been using gasoline to become electricity-based vehicles.
"There is a process in DKI where official vehicles will be able to use electricity," said Anies when met at the Monas area, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, March 8.
However, said Anies, the DKI Provincial Government still prioritizes encouraging the use of electric vehicles for public transportation. This is done to reduce the use of private vehicles.
"But gradually. We prioritize electric-based public transportation over electric-based private vehicles. That's why in Jakarta we chose to launch electric-based public transportation instead of electric-based official vehicles," he said.
Anies also launched 30 electric-powered Transjakarta buses to start operating. Dozens of electric buses will operate on four routes, namely the Senayan-Senen Roundabout, Tanah Abang-Senen, Blok M-Tanah Abang, and Ragunan-Blok M.
In the inauguration, Anies said that the Transjakarta electric bus would be the first electric bus to operate in the capital city. He also considers the inauguration of the electric bus as a historic day for the transportation system.
"Today is a historic day for the transportation system in Jakarta because today is the official start of electric-based vehicles for community mobility in the capital city," said Anies.
Anies said that the procurement of Transjakarta electric buses would increase to 100 units by the end of this year. This, said Anies, is part of the implementation of Governor's Regulation No. 90 of 2021 concerning Climate Resistant Regional Low-Development Plans.
