Pandemic Becomes Endemic, Suggestions For Entrepreneurs Set This Month To Capture Economic Momentum For Ramadan And Eid

JAKARTA - Entrepreneurs hope that the change in the status of the COVID-19 pandemic to endemic can take place this month. That way, it can stimulate various economic activities to return to normal.

As stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Regional Autonomy Development Sarman Simanjorang in a statement quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 8. Sarman said that business actors are ready to carry out endemic status with the protocol rules set by the government.

"Business actors are waiting for the government's decision on when the endemic status will be enforced. Entrepreneurs hope that this endemic status can be determined by mid-March 2022 so that business actors can take advantage of the momentum of the fasting month and Eid al-Fitr," he said.

Sarman said that by determining the endemic status in mid-March 2022, it is hoped that business actors can take advantage of the momentum of the months of Ramadan and Eid to meet various community needs and opportunities to increase turnover and profit to strengthen cash flow which has been dying for the past two years.

He assessed that if the momentum of Ramadan and Eid this year can be utilized optimally, it will have the potential to contribute to economic growth in the second quarter of 2022 because it will certainly be able to boost household consumption significantly.

Likewise, economic enthusiasm will grow and the velocity of money will increase and flow from cities to regions. "Especially if people are allowed to return to their hometowns, it will accelerate economic growth in the regions which will have an impact on national economic growth," he said.

The general chairman of the DKI Jakarta Indigenous Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic that had hit during the last two years had caused delays in the flow of money to the area during Eid al-Fitr due to restrictions and restrictions on going home.

Along with the process of economic recovery that is taking place, and public finances have also started to improve, this year's homecoming is expected to be able to encourage more money to flow from cities to regions.

"If this becomes a reality, the national economic growth target for 2022 which is set by the government in the range of 5 percent-5.5 percent will be achieved," he said.
