BMKG Reminds Potential Heavy Rain In East Kalimantan Tuesday-Wednesday
BALIKPAPAN - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded the public of the impact of potential heavy rains to rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning in a number of areas in East Kalimantan Province in two days, Tuesday-Wednesday.
"The impacts of this event include floods, landslides, fallen trees, slippery roads, and others," said Meteorological Station Class I forecaster Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (SAMS) Sepinggan BMKG Balikpapan Heni Herlina quoted by Antara, Monday, March 7.
BMKG reminds all parties to always be vigilant so as not to get caught in this situation, because this condition can cause stagnation in community activities.
An early warning of this potential has also been conveyed to the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and each region, especially the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) so that anticipation can be made to reduce its impact on the community.
He detailed the areas that have the potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms, among others, in Balikpapan City on Tuesday, March 8, at 20.00 WITA heavy rain and thunderstorms have the potential to occur in all sub-districts, while at 23.00 WITA thunderstorms have the potential to occur only in East Balikpapan District.
Then in Samarinda City on Tuesday at 20.00 WITA, heavy rain could potentially occur in four sub-districts, namely Loa Janan Ilir, Sungai Kunjang, Palaran, and Samarinda Seberang, while at 23.00 thunderstorms could potentially occur in all sub-districts in Samarinda.
Furthermore, in West Kutai Regency on Sunday at 17.00, thunderstorms have the potential to occur in Sendawar, Long Iram, Linggang Bigung, Manaar Bulatn, Nyuatan, and Tering sub-districts.
At 20.00 WITA and 23.00 thunderstorms have the potential to occur in the Districts of Sendawar, Bentian Besar, Long Iram, Melak, Muara Pahu, Barong Tongkok, Linggang Bigung, Jempang, Manaar Bulatn, Nyuatan, Muara Lawa, Nyuatan, Peninggahan, Land School, Siluq Ngurai, and Tering.
"On Wednesday morning or at 02.00 WITA, thunderstorms have the potential to occur in only one sub-district in West Kutai Regency, namely Bongan District," said Heni.
For Berau Regency, on Tuesday at 17.00 WITA, thunderstorms have the potential to occur in all sub-districts, namely Tanjung Redeb, Gunung Tabur, Sambaliung and Teluk Bayur sub-districts.
"Then at 23.00 WITA, thunderstorms have the potential to occur in two sub-districts, namely Batu Putih and Buduk-Biduk, then on Wednesday morning or at 02.00 WITA, thunderstorms have the potential to occur in these sub-districts," said Heni.
