JAKARTA - The National SAR Agency (Basarnas) Pos Simeulue, Aceh Province, deployed five personnel to Babi Island, a local district to evacuate three fishermen from Meulaboh, West Aceh, who drowned in the area.
"The five personnel we have deployed consist of three Basarnas personnel, one from the Navy, and another from Polairud," said Basarnas Coordinator for Simeulue Pos, Mahdi, as quoted by Antara.
The evacuation effort, said Mahdi, was carried out using a small ship type Sea Reader.
There is also the distance from Simeulue Island to Babi Island, it requires a distance of about 39 Nautical Miles (NM) or about two to three hours by sea.
Mahdi also admitted that his party had so far not been able to confirm the condition of the three fishermen from Meulaboh, West Aceh, who had an accident after the Pajero type motor boat (KM) was damaged and sank after hitting a reef.
"We hope that all the victims of these fishermen are safe," he hoped.*
