Reminding The Danger Of Sexual Violence In Online Games, Deputy Speaker Of The People's Consultative Assembly: All Parties Must Pay Serious Attention
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly, Lestari Moerdijat, also highlighted the dangers or threats of sexual violence in online games.
"In this era of information technology and digitization, the threat of sexual violence against children is no longer limited by space and time. Therefore, literacy must be improved," said Lestari in a written statement quoted by Antara, Sunday 6 March.
Not only parents and children, all parties must also pay serious attention to the threat of sexual violence against children online through a number of game applications. Stakeholders must immediately prevent the spread of the threat.
The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), he said, revealed that sexual violence against children could not be completely resolved. The lack of literacy of parents and children about acts of sexual violence through online game applications increases the threat.
"The indications revealed by KPAI must be immediately followed up with preventive measures," said the politician who is often called Rerie.
In addition to improving literacy, parents and children must also be able to technically select games or games that are appropriate for children to play so that they avoid the threat of sexual violence.
According to Rerie, efforts to prevent and resolve cases of sexual violence in the country must go hand in hand.
In addition to the ongoing legislative process on the Draft Law on Sexual Violence (RUU TPKS), Rerie hopes that efforts to increase public literacy about the threat of sexual violence will not stop.
"Without adequate public knowledge regarding the threats we face, we will find it difficult to avoid them," he said.
One of the concrete steps that can be taken is to jointly provide understanding regarding the threat of sexual violence through massive socialization and preventive actions, preventing the circulation of content that triggers sexual violence in society.
