Panglima Andika Calls Military Commander To Ask Military-Polri Fighting Case In Timika To Be Ended Tomorrow

JAKARTA - The Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, has asked that the case of a fight between members of the TNI and Polri in Tembagapura, Timika, Papua, be resolved immediately. The case is awaiting a Decision on Submission of Cases (Keppera).

Initially, the TNI Commander received a report regarding the development of the case from the Oditur General TNI Marsda TNI Reki Irene Lumme during a limited meeting. The Commander in Chief felt that the progress of the case was slow.

"The progress is quite slow, try calling the Regional Commander now," said the Commander, quoted from General TNI Andika Perkasa's YouTube account, Friday, March 4.

The Commander then called the Cenderawasih Military Commander Major General Ignatius Yogo Triyono to immediately expedite the handling of the case. The Commander in Chief ordered the Pangdam Cenderawasih to immediately sign the Keppera.

"Mas Yogo, after calling the Legal Head of the Kodam (Kumdam) the decision to hand over the case must be signed by tomorrow at the latest. So ask the Kumdam to prepare it. Thank you," he said.

For the TNI Commander in taking action against military law cases, the ranks of the TNI legal team from three dimensions are required to be fast and thorough, in order to provide appropriate punishments for those who are proven to have violated.

Periodic reports must be given according to the direction of the TNI Commander, every problem will be published to the general public so that it is transparent in dealing with any problems caused by TNI personnel.

"Guarding cases of fighting between soldiers and members of the police in Papua. Enforcement of military law for anyone who violates without exception in order to provide justice as a whole," said the former Army Chief of Staff (Kasad). Previously, members of the TNI were involved in clashes with members of the National Police in Tembagapura, Timika, Papua. The soldiers and members of the police who were in conflict were both members of the Nemangkawi Task Force Operation.

After the TNI and Polri conducted an investigation into the personnel involved in the dispute, the case, which began due to a misunderstanding, was later declared amicable.
