Worth US$350 Thousand, Wood Waste From Gresik Enters India's Export Market
JAKARTA - The business of processing wood waste is no joke. This business has great potential to penetrate the export market.
For example, PT Vesta Legno Internasional, which processes wood waste from Gresik Regency, East Java, penetrates the Indian market. Recently, Vesta Legno was awarded a contract for exporting wood waste of up to US$350,000.
"This wood is in the form of pieces of the main product, then we process it for export. We have exported 1 container of 20 fit or about 20 cubic meters worth 27 thousand dollars from the total contract of 350 thousand dollars. The type of wood is merbau," said PT Vesta Legno President Director International, Kevin Seito quoted by Antara, Friday, March 4.
Vesta Legno's move also received appreciation from the Deputy Regent of Gresik, Aminatun Habibah. "We represent the people of Gresik, thank you. Hopefully this cooperation in processing wood waste and exports can open up opportunities for cooperation to improve the economy in other sectors," he said.
Bu Min, as he is familiarly called, said that by processing waste wood so that it can be exported abroad, it is also hoped that it will create new jobs.
"Hopefully the commercialization of this product will be able to create new jobs and reduce unemployment," said Bu Min.
According to him, the government continues to encourage SMEs in Gresik to be able to penetrate the export market.
"We continue to encourage their products (MSMEs) to be competitive and superior, to be able to export," he said.
