The Third Dose Of Vaccine Recipients In Indonesia Continues To Increase, Now Touching The Number Of 11.32 Million People

JAKARTA - The government continues to boost COVID-19 vaccinations, including the third dose or booster vaccine. Currently, booster vaccine recipients continue to increase.

The COVID-19 Task Force reported that the Indonesian population who had received the third dose of the vaccine had reached 11,324,273 people, as of Thursday, March 3, as of 12.00 WIB. This means that an additional 1,107,988 third doses were injected.

Meanwhile, 146,204,141 people were declared to have received the second dose of vaccine, there was an addition of 1,697,144 people on Thursday. While the first dose of vaccination has reached 191.110,409 people or there are daily additions of 132,895 people.

This figure is close to the government's target. It should be noted that the government targets the national vaccination target to reach 208,265,720 people.

Previously, Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said efforts to accelerate COVID-19 vaccination were effective in reducing the number of vaccines with the potential to expire at the end of February 2022.

"Since we identified that there are around 18 million doses of vaccine that are about to expire, we have made efforts to accelerate vaccination injections by cooperating with the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the National Police in the vaccine attack activity," he said, as reported by Antara.

The vaccination campaign was held throughout February with a target of 5,000 participants or an average of 2,500 people per day, especially the elderly.

In addition, the government has also accelerated vaccination for the elderly and the general population by accelerating the interval of booster dose injections. If it is generally given six months, it becomes three months after the injection of the complete dose of the primary vaccine.
