Update On COVID-19 Per September 16: Another Record, New Cases Nearly 4,000

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 39,774 specimens were examined, as a result, there were 3,963 new positive cases of COVID-19.

The number of new cases today reached a new record. This figure follows the high number of specimens examined.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 228,993 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Wednesday, September 16.

Today's cases increased by 3,036, so that a total of 164,101 people recovered. Then, 135 confirmed positive cases died and a total of 9,100 people.

The province with the most new cases was in DKI Jakarta with 1,294 new cases and a total of 57,469 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Followed by East Java, which has 372 new cases with a total of 39,181 cases. Central Java has 340 new cases and a total of 15,231 cases. West Java has 293 new cases and a total of 15,231 cases. Then, East Kalimantan has 217 new cases and a total of 6,317 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 945 recovered cases. Followed by Aceh with an increase of 399 recovered cases, East Java with an increase of 342 recovered cases, and West Java with an additional 213 cases recovered.

Then, none of the provinces reported their regions having no new cases as of today. All provinces today reported new cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined reached 2,755,120. In detail, 2,707,082 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 48,038 using molecular rapid test (TCM).

"The number of positive results per number of specimens examined (positivity rate) was 14.1 percent," he wrote.

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 100,236 people. Currently, 493 districts / cities from 34 provinces have cases of COVID-19.
