All Russian Football Clubs And National Teams In FIFA 22 Game Removed EA Sport

JAKARTA - In the midst of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Electronic Arts Inc (EA.O) decided to remove the Russian national team and all Russian football clubs from their game, FIFA 22.

"EA Sport stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and like many voices throughout the world of football, calls for peace and an end to the Russian invasion," EA Sport FIFA wrote in a statement on Twitter.

The company also said it would remove the Russian team from NHL 22. EA's move comes days after FIFA suspended Russia's national team and clubs. The NHL also said it would no longer consider the country as a location for NHL competitions in the future.

Nike has cut ties with Russia. Western countries have also imposed sanctions, including closing several Russian banks from the SWIFT global financial network.

Separately on Wednesday March 2, Motorsport Games Inc said that sanctions against Russia in response to the country's invasion were delaying the release of future racing game titles.

Shares of Miami, Florida-based Motorsport, known for its "NASCAR" and "KartKraft" games, were down nearly 13% in afternoon trading.

Most of Motorsport Games' development staff are from Russia, and the imposition of sanctions could influence the company to use Russian staff as game developers in the future.

The company has not responded to a Reuters question about the number of employees working outside Russia. "Prolonged unrest, intensified military activity or broader sanctions impacting the region could have a material adverse effect on our operations, results of operations, financial condition, liquidity and business prospects," the company said in a regulatory filing.
