1,117 Hindu Prisoners Receive Special Remission, Most In Bali
JAKARTA - A total of 1,117 Hindu prisoners received special remissions in the context of Nyepi Day, Saka New Year 1994, today, Thursday, March 3.
The Coordinator of Public Relations and Protocol of the Directorate General of Corrections, Rika Aprianti, said that this special remission was not only a form of state presence but also to motivate prisoners.
"Giving remissions is expected to motivate inmates to become better and increase obedience to God Almighty," said Rika in her written statement, Thursday, March 3.
Of the 1,117 convicts who received special remission, there were four who received special remission II or were immediately released, 1 was released after 15 days of remission, and 3 others were released after receiving a month's remission.
Meanwhile, the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Bali contributed to the highest number of prisoners receiving the Nyepi RK with a total of 792 inmates. Furthermore, followed by the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Central Kalimantan with 70 prisoners and the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of North Sumatra with 47 prisoners.
Furthermore, Rika explained that the entire process of granting remissions was carried out online through the Correctional Database System and was free of charge.
"SDP makes it easier for us to check administrative and substantive requirements, which of course have been fulfilled by prisoners receiving remission. In addition, both prisoners and their families can directly monitor the process of proposing remission by using biometric scanners," he said.
For information, the number of community assisted citizens in all parts of Indonesia reached 271,252 as of February 22. The details are 226,490 prisoners and 44,762 prisoners.
This special remission for the Day of Silence has also saved the inmates' budget for food costs of Rp. 551,055,000.00 with an average meal cost of Rp. 17 thousand per person per day.
