Hagrid's Actor Calls A Group Of Twitter Generations Waiting For JK Rowling To Be 'wrong To Chirp'
JAKARTA - Actor Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid in the Harry Potter film series, defended JK Rowling on allegations related to trans phobic speech.
"I don't think what he said was insulting at all. I don't know why but there is a whole batch of Twitter generations waiting to be offended or they won't win the war, right?" Coltrane told Radio Times quoted from Antara, Wednesday.
Last June, Rowling was heavily criticized for a series of tweets she made about menstruation which she described as 'anti-trans'.
He then wrote a long essay on his personal blog post.
The essay was criticized by LGBT + groups because it was said to be inaccurate and perpetuate dangerous ideas about transgender people.
Coltrane continued, "Here I am rambling on like a grumpy old man, but you will think, oh well, be wise, get up and move on."
The actor for the film Cracker declined to comment further. "I don't want to get involved in all that business because of all the hate mail and trash that I don't need in my current lifetime."
Rowling repeatedly denies she has a phobic trance viewpoint.
This week he was again accused of being trance phobic after he released his new book Troubled Blood which he wrote under the alias Robert Galbraith.
This book tells the story of a detective's adventure that uncovers a serial murder by a man who likes to dress like a woman.
The hashtag #RIPJKRowling is reverberating in the world of social media. Fans claim JK Rowling's career is dead.
