Long Time No News, Setya Novanto Was Involved In A Commotion With The Former Secretary Of The Supreme Court, Nurhadi At Sukamiskin Prison
JAKARTA - The former chairman of the DPR RI, Setya Novanto, who is a convict in the e-KTP corruption case, was involved in a commotion with the former Secretary of the Supreme Court (MA) Nurhadi. This incident took place in Sukamiskin Prison, Bandung, West Java, where both of them were serving their sentences.
The Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Directorate General of PAS at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Rika Aprianti, said that the commotion between the two convicts in the corruption case occurred some time ago. However, he did not specify when exactly.
"From the confirmation of the Sukamiskin Headquarters, this is an old incident and has been over for a long time," said Rika when contacted by VOI, Wednesday, March 2.
Rika explained that further training is also being carried out at this time. The commotion between Setya Novanto and Nurhadi was triggered by a misunderstanding. "Info from the Head of Police, (the dispute occurred because, ed) miscommunication," he said.
Furthermore, Rika said this kind of dispute is common in correctional institutions (lapas). The Sukamiskin Prison is no exception.
But, he made sure this incident can be resolved. "Disputes in prisons are one of the risks faced in the handling of prisons, including Sukamiskin. What is important is that these disputes can and have been resolved," he said.
For information, Setya Novanto is a convict in the e-KTP corruption case. He was sentenced to serve a sentence of 15 years in prison and had to pay a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to three months in prison because he was found guilty in a mega-corruption case that cost the state up to Rp. 2.3 trillion.
In addition, the former chairman of the Golkar Party also had to pay a replacement money of US$7.3 million minus the Rp5 billion that had been returned. Furthermore, after being released, Setya Novanto's political rights were revoked for five years.
Meanwhile, Nurhadi is currently serving a 6-year sentence for accepting bribes and gratuities related to the arrangement of a number of cases in the Supreme Court. In addition, he was also sentenced to pay a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary of 3 months in prison.
