Illegal Logging In PT PDIW Area In Muaro Jambi Regency, Police Find Hundreds Of Logs

JAMBI - The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the Jambi Police revealed illegal logging activities in the PT PDIW area in Muaro Jambi Regency, by securing hundreds of processed logs that were washed into the canal flow.

The Director of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jambi Police, Kombes Christian Tory, said that the disclosure of the case was made after reports from the public were then investigated on February 24, and finally the police went to the location to check and find the logs from illegal logging.

The result was that the members in the field found hundreds of logs or logs that had been processed into boards that were tied up and would be flowed into the canal to be removed from the forest through the canal.

"We found around 210 logs and 400 logs that had been processed into planks, but unfortunately none of the perpetrators were arrested, because they suspected that the police officers had already been identified by the perpetrators, so they immediately fled," said Tory in Jambi. , reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 1.

The location where the illegal timber was found is quite far, it is near the border of South Sumatra. To reach the location, members of the Ditreskrimsus must use a dirt bike, then walk and so the possibility of the arrival of the police is known earlier. Tory further said that currently his party is still conducting an investigation to uncover the perpetrators of the illegal logging. It is suspected that the logs found in the field came from the PT PDIW area.

"We are still trying to find witnesses who are aware of the illegal logging activities," said Police Commissioner Christian Tory.

According to him, the alleged illegal logging activity in the PT PDIW area cannot be confirmed whether it is old or new, but what is certain is that the perpetrators have been working there for several days.
